Natural gas production in the Barnett Shale has surpassed 3 trillion cubic feet, according to research by the Powell Barnett Shale Newsletter. According to Gene Powell, calculations show that cumulative production in the Barnett Shale shows that, as of July 1 of this year, production from gas wells and casinghead gas from oil wells hit 3.001 Tcf.

Powell’s calculation indicate that the Barnett Shale is currently producing 2.8 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of gas per day from 7,499 wells.
